Summary
You can permanently delete your Niravah account and everything in it at any time, directly from the app. Deletion is immediate and cannot be undone.
You do not have to delete your whole account to remove data. Inside the app you can delete any single item — a journal note, a photo, an activity, a moment you saved — whenever you like, and it is removed from your device and from your encrypted backup. To remove everything and close your account, follow the steps below.
1. Delete from inside the app
This is the quickest way, and it removes everything in one step:
- Open Niravah and go to Settings.
- Open Account & backup.
- Tap Delete account, then confirm.
Your account, your encrypted cloud backup, and the data on your device are all erased.
2. What gets deleted
When you delete your account, we permanently remove:
- Your account and sign-in identifier.
- Your encrypted cloud backup, including all earlier versions.
- Photos and other media stored with your backup.
- Any thoughts you sent to your connections before that feature was paused.
- Your public profile card and your connections.
- All Niravah data held on the device you delete from.
This cannot be undone, and there is no recovery afterwards. Deleting your account is different from signing out: signing out keeps your backup, while deletion destroys it.
What we keep, and for how long
We do not keep a recoverable copy of your data after deletion. Your encrypted cloud backup and every earlier version of it are erased together, and the key that protected it is scheduled for permanent destruction and fully destroyed within 24 hours — after which your backup can no longer be read by anyone, including us.
We keep none of your personal content — your journal, reflections, photos, moments, or connections — for our own purposes once deletion completes. Where the law requires us to keep limited records (for example, records relating to a purchase, kept to meet tax and accounting obligations), we keep only what the law requires, for the period it requires, and nothing more.
3. If you can’t open the app
If you no longer have access to the app, you can ask us to delete your account by email. Write to privacy@niravah.com from the email address linked to your account. We will confirm your request and complete the deletion within one month.
4. Using Niravah without an account
Niravah works without an account, and most people use it that way. If you never created one, your data lives only on your device — there is nothing for us to delete. To remove it, delete your data from within the app or uninstall Niravah.
